Smith & Fong adds midwestern distributionDecember 3 - San Francisco – Bamboo interior products pioneer Smith & Fong Co.today announced it has signed Metro Hardwoods Inc., of Maple Grove, Minnesota, as a Plyboo plywood distributor for the Midwestern United States. “We’re very pleased to have formed an alliance with a distributor as committed to sustainability as we are,” Smith & Fong vice president Angus Stocks said. “Metro’s reputation and reach in the Midwestern market is unmatched.” Metro (whose parent company is Midwest Hardwoods) holds the FSC chain-of-custody number SW-COC-08 and will provide warehousing and sales coverage for Smith & Fong’s Plyboo® FSC-certified bamboo plywood products. Service coverage will include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in San Francisco, Smith & Fong Co. was the first U.S. company to manufacture bamboo flooring in China for sale in North America, offering its initial product under the brand name Plyboo in 1993.
